3 Best Photos

This first photo is one of my best because the main focus, the dragon, is away from the    center. You are also able to get a lot of the background into the photo which seems to make it complete

This photo is another one of my best. The lighting is to my liking and the donuts are very colorful. When you see this picture, you get hungry. Also these donuts are in focus and the trays make a symmetrical pattern of lines.

This final photo is one of my best because i was able to capture the cool advertisement in the air. This picture breaks the rule of thirds in a way, and one edge of the photo is framed by trees. Also,I really really like the lighting and how focused and clear this photo is.

Photographing Shape

This photo is of the snack bar windows, and gives a great example of the element of art, shape. The many lines in the windows form squares, and the papers are rectangles.

Cropping for Better Composition 2.0

before

after

After cropping these two pictures, the rule of thirds in composition is present. The two trees are in the thirds of the picture, leaving the center empty.

Cropping for better composition

                                                                         original

                                                                      cropped

This photo illustrates the color rule of composition because it gets rid of the unnecessary patch of grass, and focuses on the people in the picture. The little girls are wearing clothes that correspond with each other and the sign in the background ie. blues, pinks, purples.

Cropped

This photo illustrates the rule of thirds in composition because the ferris wheel is in a third of the picture, and the majority of the bubbles are also in a third of the picture.

Composition-Lines

Our assignment was to take pictures of lines. These three photos give a good representation of the composition rule lines because in each photo, there are lines that go in the same direction and in symmetrical patterns.

5 Self-Portraits

In photobooth, there are many cool filters and effects. Below are some self-portraits I took experimenting with them.

black and white for a simple selfie.
                                                          serious faces with squeeze

sepia's reflection looks cool on my bow.

                                                     glow, for Pittsburg pride! :)

silly faces on thermal cam ft.photobomb

I chose these filters because I thought they looked the best & the coolest with the original lighting in the room and the different colors on my clothes.

Elements of art, at school!

Pittsburg high has quite a few examples of elements of art. Our building has contrasting colors and different shapes, mostly various sized squares. Our snack bar's windows are also various shaped rectangles and squares. The arches you walk under when going to class frame the hallways and stairs. The pirate fountain has a lot of different textures, which makes it pop and look really cool. The picnic benches make straight lines, and the wooden benches make sharp angles.

Composition in Photography

Composition is the way you display your subject in your photo. It also means 'putting together', as in the way you arrange things to fix the photo, or how elements are positioned in a frame. Lines, shape, color, texture and depth are a few of the types of elements of design. When taking pictures, you should pay attention to the lines and shapes in your environment. There are no set lines that exist in nature, but things like the edges of a sidewalk or telephone poles or tree trunks serve the same purpose. The way they frame the main object can dramatically change the focus point and the picture as a whole. Color can affect your photo. Different colors sybmbolize different things (red can mean danger, white can mean purity etc.), so you should take that into consideration.

Light

Light is everywhere.Thats a fact. But light differs depending on where you're at,and whats going on in your surroundings. Outside, the light is brighter when the sun is out,but the way that sunlight looks to you can be different for everyone. If you're looking at a persons shirt, the light will seem different as oppose to looking at the light bouncing off their skin. Colors of the surfaces (light is bouncing off of) affects the way we perceive the light. Also, glasses or reflective surfaces can alter light. Have someone who wears glasses stand directly under the sunlight. You'll see a glare coming off their lenses!
The way light is used can(and will) affect the picture. If the sun is visibly in the background,it will blow out your picture and alter the colors of the photo. If there isn't enough light, your photo will be too dark, and you won't be able to see what actually in the picture. Having light bounce off the person or object in the picture can be a good or bad thing. If the light compliments the object it can enhance the photo. If the light is blinding the object, it can make the photo look bad.
